ALPINEMIRROR

Calm, lake-like price action,
built up steadily.

The euro and the Swiss franc form a quiet, low-volatility pair. ALPINE MIRROR is an EURCHF-only EA that combines step-by-step averaging and a trailing stop with a time-based exit, so losing baskets are not carried for long.

I'm Captain Pon. The euro and the Swiss franc move as quietly as a lake. This ship stacks up that calm, little by little.

Backtest results from the MT5 Strategy Tester (every tick, $10,000 starting balance, 1:100 leverage, fixed 0.01 starting lot, 2017.01.01–2026.10.12). They do not guarantee future results.

Highlights

What stands out in the backtest.

Max drawdown of 12.5% over about 10 years, COVID period included

In the full test from 2017, including the turbulent year of 2020, the max drawdown stayed at 12.5% (equity-based).

Zero stop-outs since 2024

January 2024 to October 2026: +$627 with a max drawdown of 8.7%. A calm run.

A time-based exit avoids long carries

A sell basket still under water after a set period is closed in full, before swap costs pile up.

Easy to start with relatively modest capital

Start from the minimum 0.01 lot. On a low-volatility pair the averaging distances are modest too.

From 2018 on: +$3,217 (PF 1.34)

Parameters were tuned on data from 2018 onward.

Key strengths

The design principles behind ALPINE MIRROR.

Tuned for a low-volatility pair

Averaging distances are modest and widen per step, optimized separately for each side.

Buys and sells run separately

Managed as independent baskets, so a move against one side doesn't stop the other.

Trailing stop

Judged from the average price across all positions. Tuned separately for buys and sells.

Time-based exit

A basket still under water after a set period is closed in full, before carrying costs pile up. No long-term carries.

Every-tick test from 2017

About 10 years of market history, with parameters chosen from a stable region.

Exit rules set in advance

Stop-out is tied to the balance, and the number of steps is capped. It is designed not to chase losses.

How ALPINE MIRROR works

Planned averaging: spacing, lot size and limits are all decided in advance.

It only does two things. When price moves against it, it adds at a set distance. When price comes back, it follows as far as the move goes.

Average price (±0) Trailing starts at the threshold Peak Exit Exit line (follows upward)
1. Trailing means no fixed profit targetOnce profit from the average price reaches the threshold, trailing begins. The exit line follows the profit upward and closes all positions together on the pullback.

Spacing widens with each step

The deeper the move against you, the wider the next spacing. It doesn't rush to add deep into a move.

Buys and sells run separately

A move against one side doesn't stop the other.

All positions close together

The decision is based on P/L from the average price. The first position and the deepest add close at the same time.

Stop-out tied to balance

When the floating loss reaches a set share of the balance, everything is closed. The exit rule is fixed from the start.

Backtest: tested over a long stretch of market history

Results by period ($10,000 starting balance, fixed 0.01 starting lot).

PeriodNet profit (USD)PFMax DD (equity)
2017.01–2026.10 (full run, COVID period included)+3,0001.2712.5%
2018.01–2026.10+3,2171.3412.4%
2024.01–2026.10+627—8.7%

Parameters were tuned on data from 2018 onward. In the period since 2024 there were no stop-outs, and the time-based exit was used 3 times.

How to read these numbers

  • Backtests were run on MT5. The MT4 version follows the same logic, but results vary with platform, broker and history data.
  • The time-based exit applies when a sell basket stays under water for a set period. A larger lot scales profit and loss amounts proportionally.

Defense built for offense

What matters most in an averaging EA is that the exit rules are set from the start.

FAQ

Isn't averaging / martingale dangerous?

If the move against you continues, the floating loss grows. ALPINE MIRROR limits that risk with a step cap, a balance-linked stop-out, a time-based exit for sells and a spread filter.

Can I use it on other pairs?

It is tuned for EURCHF only. Using it on other pairs would need separate testing.

Do MT4 and MT5 give different results?

Backtests were run on MT5. The MT4 version follows the same logic, but results vary with platform, broker and history data.

Can I raise the lot size?

The test uses a 0.01 starting lot. A larger lot scales the stop-out loss just as it scales profit. Decide how much loss you can accept first.

Will live trading differ from the backtest?

It can. Real spreads, swaps, execution delays and slippage change the results. We recommend checking on a demo account or the minimum lot first.

Can I run it alongside other EAs on the same account?

Yes. Each EA is a separate subscription. On one account, give them different magic numbers. Floating losses can grow on several EAs at once, so leave plenty of margin.

What happens when the free period ends?

After the 30-day free period, the plan you chose is charged automatically. Cancel during the free period and you won't be charged.

How do I cancel?

The subscription management page lets you cancel at any time. After you cancel, the EA stops opening new trades once the paid period ends.

Can I change my account number?

Yes. Each subscription covers one account, so to change it, send your new account number to .

Please read before using
  • The figures shown are backtest results on historical data. They do not guarantee future profit.
  • Averaging (martingale-style) strategies can suffer large losses if the market keeps moving in one direction.
  • Live results differ from backtests because of spreads, swaps, execution delays, slippage and similar factors.
  • Margin FX trading can lose more than your principal, and losses can exceed the margin you deposit. Trade at your own judgment and risk, with money you can afford to lose.
